What is Recruitment?

Recruitment is a time for those who are interested in joining NIU alpha Kappa Delta Phi to come out to various events and meet the sisters of aKDPhi! All events are free, and there is no obligation to join if you attend.
Attendance to an Informational event and a Social event is strongly recommended for those interested in an interview.

FAQs
What is a Bid?
A bid is an invitation to begin the new member process. We encourage girls to be engaged and be themselves when coming out to our rush events. Talking to as many sisters on a personal level is extremely helpful for both you and us – we can make a well informed decision on whether to extend a bid to you, and you are able to assess more clearly whether aKDPhi is right for you.
What is Expected of a New Member?
The purpose of sorority education consists of education about the sorority and chapter. New members should demonstrate a desire and ability to support alpha Kappa Delta Phi’s sorority standards. Hazing, defined as “any action taken or situation created to produce mental or physical discomfort, embarrassment, harassment, or ridicule,” is not condoned nor tolerated.
Are Sorority Dues Expensive?
No! It's similar to the price of a book at the NIU Bookstore. It varies by semester, but it is definitely affordable! Payment plans are always available for those who need it!
Do I Need to be Asian to Join?
No! Although we are an Asian-interest sorority, we in no ways limit ourselves to just those of Asian heritage. We welcome anyone of all races, lifestyles, age, grade, state or country. Across the nation, we have a great diversity of ethnicities outside the Asian culture including African-Americans, Caucasians, and Latino-Americans. Asian-interest simply means that you envision the same goals and care about the same issues.
