At the heart of our sorority, is our love, friendship, and sisterhood. alpha Kappa Delta Phi values sisterhood and truly lasts a lifetime. Being a sister is not only about enjoying the good times together, but also being there for each other through the tough times. With more than 9000 sisters internationally, there will always be a family away from home.

Some sisterhood events we have had in the past include: karaoke, game nights, going out to eat, and so much more! Every year, our Midwest sisters get together at our Midwest Sisterhood Rally in the fall, and our Midwest Sisterhood Conference in the spring. We also show our appreciation to sisters through our Monthly Sister Spotlight!

We value academics and strive to achieve and maintain academic excellence tremendously. aKDPhi contains numerous academic and career resources for sisters to utilize. This includes study groups, tutoring and mentorship, internships, and more. Our alumnae offer job connections, advice, as well as scholarships for our active sisters. aKDPhi also has a LinkedIn Group for our sisters to make connections with our sisters around the nation.

Our sisters come from a diverse range of majors, from photography to nursing, so sisters are always able to reach out to one another for help when they are in need.

Everyone has the potential to become a leader. We aim to cultivate women to become young leaders in our community. aKDPhi provides a variety of leadership opportunities which includes: sisters becoming leaders in the APIDA community, and most importantly, within our own organization. There are leadership roles within the chapter to help our sisters grow. With many positions in our organization, it is easy for sisters to quickly get involved and grow as leaders.

Our chapter has a strong passion for being involved within the NIU community such as being a part of Asian American Association, OHANA Peer Mentor Program, Philippine Student Association, Student Nurses Organization, and the Multicultural Greek Council Board . As a national organization, alpha Kappa Delta Phi also offers numerous professional opportunities as well!

We are dedicated to our national philanthropy, Breast Cancer Awareness. Nationwide, we have raised over $1,000,000 throughout the years for breast cancer research. During National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, you can find us fundraising on and educating the community about Breast Cancer Awareness. We also hold our annual Breast Cancer Ball in the spring. Each year, we help by donating over $1000 to the cause.

The sisters of NIU aKDPhi are constantly doing various service projects in our local community, such volunteering at Hope Haven, NIU Move in Day, NIU Food Pantry, donation drives, and so much more!

Our organization places an emphasis on educating others on the unique cultures and challenges that Asians and Asian American face. As an Asian-interest, but not Asian-exclusive, organization, we strive to promote Asian awareness in our community.

We often co-host events with the Asian American Resource Center as well as other Asian organizations. Our sisters have also participated in contests such as Miss Asia and the Cultural Fashion Show to showcase their culture and have gone to various events such as Asian American Night, a Japanese Taiko concert, the Cultural Fair: "A Trip Around Asia", and more . Every semester, our sorority hosts an Asian Night Market to bring together the Asian community, as well to support them with! We have also done a K-Pop Random Dance Play and many Asian food fundraisers. In the future, we hope to expand Asian-Awareness through forums and discussions, guest speakers, and being involved in more community events promoting Asian Awareness.
